Welcome to the Durango Bluegrass Meltdown
The Durango Bluegrass Meltdown is a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion and preservation of bluegrass music as an American art form. Since 1995, we have been presenting a unique experience in Durango, the gem of Southwest Colorado. The Meltdown features three unique, intimate main stages, a super jam, barn dance (Durango style), Saturday night Celtdown (for all you closet Celtoids!), and music flowing from bars, restaurants, coffee houses, and downtown streets and sidewalks--all within walking distance. Our headquarters are located in the historic Strater Hotel where jamming and merriment goes on into the wee hours of the morning, as the cowboys and miners would have liked it!
Thank you all for coming to the 16th Annual
Durango Bluegrass Meltdown
This year’s festival was an enlivening and intimate collection of wonderfully attentive, caring and considerate fans; selfless, altruistic and noble volunteers; dedicated, fervent and fanatical volunteer board members; and the music that brought us all together. We are quite fortunate to amass such an incredible assortment of national, regional and local Bluegrass, Celtic and Old Timey musicians for a weekend of spellbinding music that tickled our hearts, left us itching for more and kicked off the festival season. This year’s Meltdown may be over, but we are sure you can catch these bands throughout the year perhaps with a road trip or two in the future.
On behalf of Durango and all of those who were a part of producing this year’s festival, a big thanks to the bands and folks who travelled the long distances to get to Durango. The 2010 Meltdown would not have been the success that it was without your company. We’d also like to make a very important point and recognize all of our sponsors detailed throughout this website. Please let them know their contributions are appreciated and support them with your patronage.
Though another Meltdown has concluded, planning for next year is already under way and we welcome your comments. Tell us about your recent Meltdown experiences at info@durangomeltdown.com or fill out the form on the contact page.
Stay tuned for breaking news on the 17th annual Durango Bluegrass Meltdown and plan on being here April 8th, 9th and 10th next year.
